Just as there are numerous types of businesses, there are many styles of blogs. Personal blogs can range from the average person’s daily ramblings, to the poet’s verse. A company blog should be so much more. Before beginning a company blog, first ask “what is the blog going to be about?” If you do not name the subject on which you will blog, the potential to fall into the daily rambling category is great. Let’s create a fictional company for the purpose of the Blogger’s Blog. We’ll call the company Fresh Brewed in honor of one of my favorite vices- a hot cup of coffee.
Now, Fresh Brewed is going to go through many stages of development before the doors open. A blog can be utilized to communicate through various phases of starting a business. For example, you and your business partners are handling different aspects of the business, and communication between individuals is certainly vital. Meetings could be scheduled, but time is of essence here, and getting 5 partners together to hash out details can be tedious. Of course you could hold conference calls, but not all information pertains to everyone during every call, so precious time is lost. Texting is taxing, emails get lost in the shuffle, so what’s our cutting edge java shop to do? Blog it!
When a company blog is created, users can log on to see the status of each element being developed- as it happens! Need to know when the first coffee shipment will arrive? When employee training will start? What uniforms have been decide on? Check the blog!
